The Yamaha YBR 125M is an updated version of the YBR 125 already on sale in India and will sport improved power and economy figures over the existing model.

Import records show that Yamaha India is working on a silent update for its YBR 125 commuter motorcycle and has imported the new version called ‘YBR 125M’ in the country for R&D purposes. The YBR series is available in 110 and 125cc versions and has been modest sellers in their respective segments; while offerings from Hero and Honda continue to dominate the market. With the updated version, Yamaha might just capture some volumes against the top selling Honda CB Shine.

The outgoing Yamaha YBR 125 uses a 123cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine producing 10.88 PS of power and 10.40 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The new YBR 125M though is likely to come with a slightly larger 124cc engine along with increased power and torque outputs while paired to the same gearbox. The fuel efficiency is also expected to see a significant improvement over the current model.

We don’t expect a lot to change in terms of aesthetics on the new Yamaha YBR 125M, nonetheless, the commuter will get new body graphics, updated body panels, exhaust muffler and alloys for a fresh appeal. Yamaha could go a mile extra and style the new YBR 125 along the lines of the European version adding a lot of aggressive lines. While the outgoing YBR 125 is priced at around Rs. 55,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi); prices are likely to see a marginal hike on the YBR 125M.
