2021 Yamaha R3 Side
YZF-R3 and the MT-03 will hit the showrooms later this year

Exciting news for Yamaha enthusiasts in India, R3 is coming back! Yamaha Motor India is gearing up to launch some high-end bikes in the market. While the Japanese bike maker has been mainly focused on 125cc scooters and 150cc motorcycles for the younger audience, they are now preparing to take the next step by introducing more powerful bikes.

The eagerly awaited Yamaha R3 and MT03 are set to hit the Indian showrooms by the end of this year. Additionally, Yamaha has plans to introduce even more powerful bikes like the R7 and either the MT07 or MT09 in 2024, offering a wider range of options to enthusiasts. No, these are not rumours – Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India has confirmed about these upcoming products.

The Yamaha R3 and MT03 are powered by a 321cc, parallel-twin engine producing 42 PS at 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9000 RPM. While the performance figures of India-spec models are not confirmed yet, we believe it’ll be more or less the same.

Yamaha is also planning to launch electric two-wheelers in the near future considering the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India. The company intends to introduce a couple of EV models in the future to cater to this increasing demand.

The bike maker is also expanding the network of Blue Square showrooms across the country. The Blue Square network will be prepared to offer the new 300cc and 700cc motorcycles to the target customers.

For those who are eagerly waiting for these new products by Yamaha, keep an eye out for more developments. The dealer network has been notified about the launch of these news bikes. Soon we expect them to start accepting unofficial bookings for the upcoming bikes as well.
