Pulsar 375 Super Sport

Bajaj Auto is betting big on performance bikes, a move which the company made more than a decade back when it launched the Pulsar 180 in the Indian market. Over time the company has evolved and is now looking at bringing in higher capacity performance bikes to the masses. We all are aware about the Pulsar 375 which will be launched later this year. The company is also working on a full faired version of the Pulsar 200 NS which is likely to be called Pulsar 200 SS (Super Sport). Both these motorcycles will be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo.

Bajaj Auto doesn’t usually showcase new motorcycles at the Auto Expo but the company is shifting its strategy. At the 2012 Auto Expo, neither was the KTM Duke 200 showcased nor was there any signs of the second generation Pulsar (200 NS), both of which were launched and unveiled respectively later that month (January 2012). We have already informed you about a new Bajaj cruiser concept debuting at the 2014 Auto Expo, the bike will hit production in 2015 and might replace the Avenger which has been doing only average numbers, owing to lack of upgrades and zilch marketing.

The Pulsar 200 SS will get fuel-injection along with a full fairing and optional ABS. Other parts will be shared with the 200 NS and power output is expected to be bumped to 24.5 BHP. The Pulsar 375 will share engine components with the Duke 390 and thus this high capacity Pulsar will produce around 38 BHP of power and 32 Nm of torque. Expect the Pulsar 375 to reach 100 km/hr in under 8 seconds while top speed is expected to be around 175 km/hr. The Pulsar 200 SS will be priced at around Rs. 1.35 lakhs while the Pulsar 375 will be priced around Rs. 1.8 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

  • A K

Let us know when sub 200cc/180ns will launch if you have any info..

  • Pravin

I feel the bigger Pulsar will easily have a peak power of about 43Ps and 34Nm torque.. and will clock 100 in 6.5 secs and will have a top end of 170 genuine..

The 200SS will not have anything more than a 24Ps top end..

Exciting year for Indian biking scene though…

i want to buy a bike but confused between 2 . pulsar 180 and karizma r. And pls tell me which one is faster .

    • Faisal Khan

Wait for updated Karizma. The new ZMA should be faster.

    • tej

if you see current version of both bikes than pulsar 180 is faster. but newer karizma & pulsar 180 are coming too…& i guess it will be same with new pulsar 180 & karizma r …

  • tej

hey somebody plz tell me the speedo indicated top speeds of following bikes:-
    1) pulsar 200 ns
    2)pulsar 180
    3) pulsar 220f
    4)karizma zmr & r
    5)rtr 180 & rtr 160
    6)cb trigger
    7)r15 v2
    8)cbr 150 r

    • Faisal Khan

Do you want to know which is the faster? See our drag race video which is all of these bikes except the Karizma, CB Trigger and Apache RTR.

  • koushik

will there be a pulsar based on the duke 125..?

    • Faisal Khan

Nope, there is no market for it.

    • koushik

no market? p135 sold in good numbers didnt they . Well will they upgrade the p 135 atleast?

    • Faisal Khan

But by using KTM tech, they won’t be able to price it competitively.

  • koushik

and the discover 125 st also did well. Why not launch a pulsar with 125 cc duke engine minus the liquid cooling and with a rear mono ?

    • Faisal Khan

Koushik, because they want to push Pulsars to premium bracket and Discover for mass market.

  • koushik

ok but what about the pulsar 135 will they upgrade it atleast in the styling department . I like the p135 but it is too old now. And i cant buy the 200 or 375 because i am an inexperienced driver and i only drove my friends p150 a couple of times . I am a guy who is looking upgarde from 100 cc bikes.
