After a volcanic launch last month simultaneously in India and Indonesia, the much awaited TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has made a public debut at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo near Delhi, much to the curiosity of the visitors. Easily, one of the most awaited launches this year, the new flagship Apache takes the Hosur based automaker to a newer and more competitive segment while TVS has ensured to keep prices extremely competitive starting at Rs. 88,890/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Based on a double cradle frame, the 2016 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V boasts of a completely new design language inspired by the Draken concept while there is a healthy mix of old and new with the model retaining its identity.

The headlight cluster is leaner but similar to the outgoing Apache models and comes with LED DRLs, whereas the new bits include split seats, clip-on handlebars, muscular fuel tank and wavy alloy wheels. The new Apache 200 also uses an all-digital instrument cluster.

Power on the new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V comes from a newly developed 197.5cc single-cylinder, air and oil cooled, SOHC engine with 4-valves, tuned to produce 20.5 PS at 8500 RPM on the carburetted model with the fuel-injected version belting out 21 PS and 18.1 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM.

Both versions come paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Apache 200 does a claimed 0-60 km/hr run in 3.9 seconds, 0-100 km/hr in 12 seconds and is capable of achieving a top speed of 127 km/hr on the carb model and 129 km/hr on the fuel injected variant. TVS is offering dual-channel ABS as optional on both versions along with the option of Pirelli tyres. The new Apache RTR 200 4V will certainly be attracting a lot of attention for the next couple of days at the expo.
