To be positioned as a sports tourer, the new Mercedes Benz B-Class is going be a blend of space and comfort and being agile and efficient at the same time. Mercedes-Benz could launch the B-Class in India, as soon as June, 2012. The German automaker will bring its B-Class hatchback to the 2012 Auto Expo to gauge customer response and has pre-poned the launch to counter BMW’s X1. The Indian subsidiary is in talks with German headquarters to assemble the B-Class in India and thus position it more aggressively, pricing it around Rs. 18 lakhs. Mercedes-Benz doesn’t have any car which can compete with the X1 currently and is developing the GLC, which will fight the X1 by 2014. Till the GLC arrives, the company wants to offer the B-Class which will come at a cheaper price than the X1 and help the German automaker attract first time luxury car buyers. Mercedes-Benz have unveiled the 2012 B-Class. The MPV will go on sale in Europe this November and is expected to be launched in India next year. To be brought in as a CBU, the B-Class will be priced around Rs. 25 lakhs, sitting right below the C-Class. The B-Class looks like a mini R-Class but is a compact. It will be powered by 4-cylinder engines which have decent amount of power and excellent fuel efficiency. Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the interiors of the new B-Class, showcasing the high quality and details of the upcoming premium compact. The German automaker will launch the next generation B-Class in 4 variants including modern, sport and classic. The three large circular vents in the center of the dashboard are inspired from Ferrari supercars. While the screen behind the vents is available in two sizes to display important information including navigation and infotainment.
