Volkswagen has announced the launch of the new Touareg in India. The German automaker will start sales by the end of the month and has priced the 2012 Volkswagen Touareg at Rs. 58.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Touareg is Rs. 6.65 lakhs more expensive than the old Touareg. The reason for the considerable increase in prices is due to the Volkswagen Touareg being a CBU and the Rupee depreciating significantly in the past few months. The all new Touareg is in its second generation and was revealed more than two years agao in Munich.

The 2012 Volkswagen Touareg is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TDI diesel engine which produces 245 PS of peak power between 3800-4400 RPM and 550 Nm of peak torque between 1750-2250 RPM. This engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox and returns an ARAI certified mileage of 12.08 km/l. The new Touareg is 41 mm longer and 12 mm wider compared to its predecessor. The Volkswagen Touareg is available in 7 colours – pure white, black, blue, silver, brown, grey and campanella white.

It is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlights, automatic head lights, daytime running LED lights, Vienna leather upholstery, multifunction display, climatronic AC with 4-zone temperature control, RCD 550 audio sstem with 6-CD changer and 8-speakers, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, lumbar support, cruise control, auto hold, park distance control, ESP, ABS, ASR, EDL, EDTC, all-wheel disc brakes, permanent 4 motion all-wheel drive and 6 airbags.
