Launched internationally last year, Hyundai India has finally introduced the 2015 Elantra facelift in the country with prices starting at Rs. 14.13 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). For the 2015 model year, the Elantra facelift gets a host of cosmetic upgrades along with some swanky new features while the mechanicals and engines have been carried over from the outgoing model. With the updates, Hyundai intends to compete with the popular selling Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta and the likes in the segment.

Design – Starting with the exteriors, the new Elantra gets mild tinkering to the front fascia featuring a redesigned hexagonal chrome bumper, projector lamps with LED light guide and trendy new fog lamps. The side profile remains largely the same, save for the new 16-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, chrome finished door handles and chrome moulding on the belt line. The sedan also gets new electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs. Moving to the rear, the changes are subtle and include new LED effect rear combination tail lights, new dual-tone bumper and a chrome-tipped exhaust.

Interiors – Retaining the layout from the outgoing version, the interiors on the new Elantra have been done up in an all-black theme and get new leather upholstered seats, metallic scuff plates, sporty looking aluminium pedals, new ergonomically positioned console box with armrest and rear air-con vents.

In terms of tech, the 2015 Elantra facelift comes loaded with auto headlamps, push-button start with smart key function, auto cruise control, supervision instrument cluster, new generation 4.3-inch TFT LCD touchscreen audio system, Bluetooth control on the steering wheel, and also gets front seat ventilation and 10 way adjustable power seats with lumbar support. The D-segment sedan also gets new rear parking assist system that comes with rear parking sensors and camera.

Engine – The 2015 Elantra facelift continues with the existing engine options with the petrol variants powered by the 1.8-litre Dual VTVT engine tuned to produce 149.5 PS of power at 6500 RPM and 177.5 Nm of torque at 4700 RPM. The diesel trims are powered by the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi engine churning out 128 PS at 4000 RPM and 260 Nm of torque between 1900-2750 RPM. Both the powertrains are paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Safety – Loaded high on safety tech, the new Hyundai Elantra facelift is equipped with six airbags, vehicle stability management, ESP, ABS with EBD, Hill Assist Control, front and rear disc brake among other features.
