Ducati has launched the 2018 Monster 821 in India with an introductory price tag of Rs. 9.51 lakhs (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Monster 821 is now available in three colour choices – Ducati Red, Black and Ducati Yellow (newly introduced). The Monster 821’s pricing makes it around Rs. 1.39 lakhs costlier than the Monster 797 but thankfully, the current pricing is around Rs. 74,000/- lower than that of the erstwhile Monster 821, which was pulled out from the market in 2017.

In terms of styling, the 2018 Monster 821 gets a redesigned fuel-tank, Horshoe LED headlamp cluster, new full-colour TFT instrument cluster and a redesigned tail section with twin exhaust mufflers. The motorcycle comes powered by a BS-4 compliant 821cc Testasretta L-twin engine that produces 109 HP of power at 9250 RPM and 86 Nm of torque at 7750 RPM. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox whereas a bi-directional quickshifter is being offered as an optional extra. The vehicle gets three riding modes – Urban, Touring and Sport.

Suspension duties are handled by 43 mm inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Aided by Bosch 9.1 ABS, twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear provide stopping power. As par of the Ducati Safety Pack, the motorcycle gets Ducati Traction Control and ABS as standard. The 2018 Monster 821 rivals the Triumph Street Triple S, Kawasaki Z900, Suzuki GSX-S750 and the Yamaha MT-09.
