2018 KTM Duke 390 has been launched in India with minor updates and white colour option.
The KTM Duke 390 is a popular street-fighter from KTM that has driven the Austrian brand to success in India in no time. After a taste of mind-boggling performance with the original model, enthusiasts in the country got their hands on the advanced second-gen Duke 390 in 2017. With another year passing by, KTM rolls out the 2018 Duke 390 with a list of minor changes.
First up, the bike now gets a white colour option which was sorely missed in the 2017 update. In April 2017, there were a few units of the KTM Duke 390 in white delivered to some customers that were later termed by the manufacturer as export models shipped by mistake. Next, the instrument console gets a software update to support more features and offer better connectivity.
With this update, the headlight (getting switched off) issue has been solved. The 2018 Duke 390 employs a faster radiator fan to keep engine heating under control. There is a plate mounted on the frame that guards rider’s feet from coming in contact with engine heat. The aesthetics, specifications and mechanicals of the bike remain unchanged.
The bike continues to draw power from a 373.2cc, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine that develops 43.5 HP of power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch, the single-cylinder engine propels the Duke 390 to 100 km/hr in 5.78 seconds. Feature list includes dual-channel ABS, TFT display, LED lighting and much more.
Suspended on 43 mm WP forks at the front and mono shock unit at the rear, the 2018 Duke 390 gets a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm one at the rear. The new model has started to arrive at dealerships across the country. The 2018 Duke 390 is priced at Rs. 2.35 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and competes with the likes of the Benelli TNT 300.
