Royal Enfield has been busy with the update of the Classic and Thunderbird series of motorcycles.

The Classic features a redesigned chassis and swingarm

A new Royal Enfield motorcycle has been spotted testing and from the looks of it, the new bike spotted is likely to be the 2020 Classic 350 or the Classic 500. It’s already in the news that RE has been working on updating its product line and it’s just not a few cosmetic changes, there’s an all-new motor fitted in the Classic 350 and Classic 500 so that it meets the BS6 norms.

In the spy shot, one can notice that the chain drive is on the left-hand side and the engine fins look different, which confirms that it’s an updated motor, which will be fuel injected. The kick lever is also missing on the new bike.

Another difference caught by the eye is the redesigned chassis and swingarm on the motorcycle. The gas charged rear shocks have been replaced with conventional units and the bike receives disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS. The new motorcycle continues to use telescopic forks and spoke wheels as already present on the existing bike.

The tail light looks like a conventional unit, but it’s reported to be an LED unit. Other visual changes that one can find are the redesigned split seats, new grab rail and shorter muffler. A change that goes unnoticed is the rider’s seat, it doesn’t have springs like the current gen model.

Another RE bike caught by the lens is Thunderbird X. The Thunderbird X gets similar updates like the Classic that was spotted. It also gets the chain, final drive and rear sprocket swung over to the left side of the bike and the rear disc brake is repositioned to the right side. It features split seats, with a minimum height difference between the rider and the pillion seats. The tail light on the Thunderbird X is similar to the older version, but with a different exhaust set-up. The pillion grab rails are shifted to the side of the seats.
