2021 Ford Equator
It is a large SUV, no doubt

The new 2021 Ford Equator has been spied undisguised prior to it making its debut in the Chinese market.

To sit above the Everest (Endeavour in India), the new Jiangling-Ford SUV is an imposing machine that has the typical styling of cars sold in the neighbouring nation.

On the outside, the 3-row SUV features an extra large radiator grille with chrome embellishment upfront, LED DRLs connected by a chrome strip, LED main lighting units sitting just above the very much blanked side intakes and a small air dam.

Along the sides of the car, which looks clean, there is a large glass house with chrome surround, roof rails, body cladding on the lower part of the doors and wheel arches and a set of good-looking alloy wheels.

Things are pretty much the same at the rear, where we find a large tail gate, split tail lamps, and twin exhaust outlets integrated into the bumper sporting a faux skid plate.

Inside, the attention-grabbing feature is the large single-piece digital cluster and touchscreen setup, while there are some large chairs at the front separated by a rather chunky centre console. The wood-like inserts feel out of place though.

Sporting a dual tone theme, the 2021 Ford Equator spied with a sunroof has 6 seats, while 5- and 7-seater versions of the car should also be offered. The SUV is expected to receive all the latest features the carmaker can throw at it.

Although it is named the Equator, it does not come with hot power figures for its size as it only has a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor good for 224 HP.
