All set to receive a second facelift after 2015, the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 will receive a bump in power output to 170 HP.

Mahindra XUV500 Automatic Test Drive Review
The Mahindra XUV500 received its first facelift in 2015

Mahindra launched the XUV500 in the year 2011 and gave it a facelift in 2015. Now Mahindra is all set to give the XUV500 a second minor facelift along with an update to its engine.

The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine in the XUV500 is all set to receive a bump in power output of 30 HP with the power figure being rated at 170 HP. The torque figure too is expected to go up in conjunction with the power figure. This bump in power will put the XUV500 in the same league as the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endevour.

Mahindra is also giving a similar treatment to the Scorpio facelift, which is expected to produce a healthy 140 HP (versus the current Scorpio’s 120 HP) from the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Mahindra’s move to update the power figures on the 2.2-litre unit is to make space for the 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 130 HP and is expected to make its debut in Mahindra’s upcoming MPV, codenamed U321.
