Chinese car market has finally received one of the most hyped cars of the year, the Ford EcoSport. Ford is offering the EcoSport in China with two petrol spec engine options including the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine and the popular turbo petrol 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The 1.5-litre petrol engine gets mated to an option of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic PowerShift dual clutch transmission, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost gets a 5-speed manual gearbox only.
The China spec Ford EcoSport, which will be manufactured by the JV between Ford and Changan, is slightly bigger in dimensions than the India spec soon to be launched version. The Chinese market gets the Ford EcoSport with dimension figures of 4280 mm x 1785 mm x 1658 mm (L x W x H) and has a wheelbase of 2530 mm, while the India spec wheelbase measures 2521 mm and the mini SUV will be launched in India measuring under 4-metres in order to enjoy the excise benefits.
The Ford EcoSport will be offered in China with a price range starting from 94,800 Chinese Yuan (Rs. 8.27 lakhs) to 127,800 Chinese Yuan (Rs. 11.16 lakhs), while the Indian market will be getting the EcoSport with a much affordable price tag, as it is being heavily localized. The India spec EcoSport will be getting three engine options including a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, which is expected to produce 91 PS of power and 204 Nm of torque. Official launch of the EcoSport is expected in June this year.
