Ford has launched two new special edition models for the Fiesta hatchback in Europe. Christened as the Red and Black edition, the Fiesta comes with a dual-tone black and red combination with a contrasting roof that give a distinctive and sporty look to the hatchback. The Special edition models are also complimented by a subtle body kit with 16-inch standard or option 17-inch alloy wheels, different side skirts and a roof mounted spoiler.
Completing the sportier exterior package are the front grille surrounds and ORVMs that are done up in contrasting red and black colours. On the inside, the Fiesta Red and Black editions get sporty metal pedals, a red interior and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with red stitching. Making the special edition so special though is the fact that it’s powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that now produces 140 PS of power.
Ford states that the engine now provides more power-per-litre than a Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari 458 Speciale. The Fiesta hatch is now capable of doing a sprint of 0-100 km/hr in 9 seconds, while the top speed of the car is 201 km/hr. The suspension has also been tweaked on the special edition models for a stiffer and sportier setup and the 5-speed manual gearbox has been mildly tweaked along with the electronic power assisted steering system that offers more feedback.
The Ford Fiesta Red and Black editions are also quite practical and return a claimed fuel economy of 22.23 km/l on the EU cycle, while the carbon emissions are limited to 104 g/km. While the special edition model does not replicate the prowess of the Fiesta ST; it will surely appeal to those who want performance on a budget. The Red and Black Editions have been priced around 16,000 Pounds (Rs. 16.42 lakhs) in the UK. Check out the Fiesta Special edition models in action in the video below.
