General Motors’ third Chinese product to enter the Indian market has been launched today, the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. This people carrier was showcased last year at the Auto Expo and has taken some time coming, as the company had turned attention to the Sail twins. Now the Chevrolet Enjoy is finally here and could give the Ertiga some tough competition. Maruti Suzuki realizes this and has launched a special limited edition called Felix. The Enjoy has been developed by SAIC of China which helps GM price the vehicle very aggressively. The company likes to call it a “Premium MPV”.
GM is clear about the USPs of the Enjoy, the vehicle is high on space and offers good flexibility. While the styling might not be to everyone’s tastes (most people will find the vehicle boxy), the lack of curves helps in reducing manufacturing costs. The Chevrolet Enjoy MPV has decent driving dynamics and the ride quality is quite good too, a crucial parameter for an MPV in Indian conditions where the roads are not the best. The basic interior design and low levels of equipment are a letdown though.
