The 2-wheeler industry is facing a lot of trouble during the ongoing lockdown and COVID-19 crisis. It is the transition era from BS4 to BS6 and dealers are not able to sell their BS4 inventory in the current situation.

The footfalls at dealerships fell drastically from February and now during the lockdown there are no sales/registration. Supreme court has relaxed the deadline for registering BS4 vehicles to some extent.

The companies can sell 10 percent of the BS4 stock after 10 days post the lockdown is over. Still, dealers will face huge losses due to this. Now, Hero MotoCorp has assured their dealers that the company will absorb all the unsold BS4 stock.

In a recent video conference with their dealers, Pawan Munjal, chairman, Hero MotoCorp assured that the company will take care of the unsold inventory.

The Indian bike maker is likely to export all the unsold BS4 stock to other countries. This will give a huge relief to the Hero MotoCorp dealers. All other companies should consider the same treatment with their dealers who are left with huge stock.

There are around 7,00,000 units of unsold two-wheelers valued at Rs. 3850 crores.
