Hero MotoCorp plans a premium sales network to supplement its decision of dishing out more ‘150cc and above’ products.

Hero XPulse Concept Unveiled
The 200cc Xpulse off-roader will be a part of Hero premium bike range

Amidst all the two-wheeler frenzy surrounding the EICMA Show in Italy, Hero MotoCorp took wraps off the Xpulse concept on Tuesday. Headquartered in Gurugram, the Delhi-based automaker also revealed its plans of launching more products in the premium segment. To fuel the shift towards higher-capacity models, the company is exploring the possibilities to come up with an elite chain of retail outlets in the future.

At the unveil of the Xpulse concept, MD Pawan Munjal told the media, “As we go forward, we will have more products in the premium segment with higher engine capacity. Clearly a customer for 100cc is very different from a customer for premium bike.” To this, he added, “So we are considering a retail strategy with which we will be able to service that kind of customers” which hints at the brand’s future strategy.

Currently, Hero MotoCorp’s product range largely consists of commuter motorcycles with engine capacities of less than 150cc. Off late, we have been witnessing many higher-capacity products from Hero which are under development for a long time. In the coming years, Hero plans to focus on expanding its scooter and premium motorcycle portfolio to expand its market share. The Xtreme 200S, HX250 and the recent Xpulse are steps in the same direction.

Further, Hero has proposed the launch of six new models, including premium products, in this fiscal year. Armed with a widespread network of over 6000 dealerships across the country, Hero MotoCorp will continue to sell its bread-and-butter Splendor range along with other commuter brands under the same roof. Newer products targeted towards urban audience will find place in the premium dealership chain.
