Honda has unveiled the PCX electric and hybrid scooter at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show. The company will launch the new scooter in Asia and Japan in 2018. The scooter could come to India as well and if it does, expect Honda to position the PCX above the Grazia.

The PCX was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and the scooter was also imported to India for research purposes. The Honda PCX scooter is expected to be priced at around Rs. 85,000/- (ex-showroom). The scooter is likely to be available in two versions – electric and hybrid.

The electric version of the PCX will be equipped with an engine developed with Honda Mobile Power Pack and will have a detachable battery. On the other hand, the hybrid version will get a new high output battery with ACG (All-Condition Gears) start to back the engine. The hybrid is likely to displace 150cc and will have a single-cylinder layout. The 150cc motor is likely to develop 11 HP of power and 14 Nm of torque.

The scooter will have a contemporary design and a dominating front fascia. There are speculations that the scooter will get front and rear disc brakes, LED turn indicators and a digital instrument console. Right now details on the PCX’s India launch remain sketchy.
