The Honda Rebel 300 has been a huge hit in international markets

The development of the Honda Rebel for the Indian market was interrupted earlier due to pricing concerns. With the company now filing a patent for the motorcycle, it seems the Rebel is indeed headed to India to take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Rebel comes in two variants – Rebel 300 and Rebel 500. According to sources, the Japanese automaker could initially launch the Rebel 300 and the Rebel 500 could follow at a later point in time.

Honda is likely to showcase the concept version of the Rebel 300 at the 2018 Auto Expo. The motorcycle could be built in India and exported to international markets. Packed with a 286cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which is the same configuration as that of the CBR300R, the 286cc powertrain develops 27 HP of power and 27 NM of torque.

As far as the launch timeline is concerned, expect the Honda Rebel 300 to be launched in India in about two years from now. The launch of the bigger Rebel 500 will happen post the launch of the Rebel 300.

In terms of pricing, the cruiser bike could be priced in the range of 1.8-2 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will rival the Royal Enfield Classic and Bullet 350.
