Jaguar C-X17 Crossover Concept

This is it. The Jaguar C-X17 Sports Crossover Concept is mystery no more as pictures of the vehicle have leaked, showing the complete car from all angles. Jaguar will officially pull the wraps of this concept on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show (9th September) and will reveal the complete details too. The C-X17 is underpinned by a new modular aluminium architecture which is crucial for the company’s success in the volume segment. The same platform will also be utilised by the upcoming sedan which will sit below the XF in the company’s growing portfolio.

The Jaguar C-X17 Sports Crossover is a concept study and the British automaker will want to gauge the response to the vehicle before putting it into production. However looking at the images, the vehicle is almost production ready, with only the headlights, wheels and interiors looking too mature for a car of this price. Remember, when it does go into production, the C-X17 will rub shoulders with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and to some extent, its own sibling, the Range Rover Evoque. However the C-X17 is likely to be rear wheel driven only, while Land Rover cars have good off-road capability with their 4-wheel drive system.

Jaguar knows its design and the C-X17 reflects the same. The styling of the vehicle is spot-on and the crossover looks the part. The front is inspired from the XF (the boomerang shaped daytime running lights just can’t be missed). The rear is where things get interesting as Jaguar has taken heavy inspiration from the F-Type. The interiors are sci-fi with the all digital centre console which houses the rotary gear knob found on the XF and XJ. Expect the dashboard to share parts with the XF in the production model. Jaguar is likely to put the C-X17 into production next year and an India launch should happen in 2015, with the crossover coming to our shores via the CBU route.
