Mahindra GenZe electric scooter spotted on test in India, EV doing speeds up to 40 km/hr.
The Mahindra GenZe electric scooter has been spotted doing test runs in India recently. Mahindra could be preparing to introduce the GenZe (which was conceived, developed and is currently sold in the US) for India or could be working on a product derived out of the GenZe for the domestic market. The name GenZe stands for Generation Zero Emissions.
The US market gets three models of the GenZe – GenZe 2.0, GenZe 2.0s and GenZe 2.0f. The base GenZe 2.0 trim gets a front storage area, adjustable seat and open back bay for modularity and connects to the GenZe app via a touchscreen display. The base model is sold at $2999 (approximately Rs. 1,90,000/-). The GenZe 2.0s gets lower handlebars, distinctive-looking front fascia and sporty looks. It comes with enhanced app features which includes the ability to track and disable the scooter remotely in case of theft and 3G telematics data included. The mid variant is priced at $3699 (approximately Rs. 2,33,000/-).
The range-topping GenZe 2.0f (pictured above) costs $4299 (approximately Rs. 2,71,000/-) in the US and is targeted at city riders and customers looking for commuting on the go. The said variant gets electronically locking centre kickstand (for added balance and security) and a hard locking storage compartment (to keep goods safe between trips), apart from the app compatible touchscreen display. The GenZe comes powered by a 1.6 kWh removable lithium-ion battery which can offer a range of up to 48.2 kms (30 miles) with a top speed of 48.2 km/hr (30 miles per hour). The EV takes 3.5 hours for a full charge. Besides the GenZe, Mahindra is also working on an electric version of the Gusto scooter.
