Mahindra XUV300 has been spied on test featuring a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The test mule spotted was a W6 variant with a diesel engine. The XUV300 launched early this year with prices starting from Rs. 7.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). Upon launch, the baby SUV was offered with a manual transmission only, but now we expect an AMT to be offered soon.

The Mahindra XUV300 will be offered with an AMT gearbox with both petrol and diesel engine options. The AMT version of the car should be priced at a premium over its manual counterparts. The price difference is expected to be around Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 60,000/-. This 6-speed AMT gearbox is reportedly sourced from Magneti Marelli.

The XUV300 is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine making 109 BHP and 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 115 BHP and 300 Nm. These engines are currently offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed AMT is expected to be launched soon.

With the AMT gearbox, the XUV300 will be a car to look out for and will be a formidable opponent to other cars in the segment. The XUV300 rivals with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the latest Hyundai Venue.

The Indian carmaker recently discontinued AMT variants on the TUV300. With this move, we expected Mahindra to launch AMT with the XUV300, which is happening soon.
