The Mahindra XUV500 came, saw and conquered the segment. The company has currently closed bookings of the global model after receiving 25000 bookings in just 10 days. Mahindra recently launched the Xylo facelift, which featured new things not seen in its bigger siblings. Case in point is the all new 5-speed manual gearbox on the mHawk engine. Known as the MT320, the said gearbox will soon be launched in the Scorpio. Another interesting feature to debut is the Voice Command Technology, which is not present in any other Mahindra vehicle.

This is not the first time Mahindra has tested voice technology in its vehicles. The Muscular Scorpio was launched with voice feature a few years ago, which tells the driver to strap the seat belt and to shut the door. This was not so advanced. But the Xylo E9’s voice command feature lets the driver to activate wipers, operate the mobile phone, control the audio system, headlamps, etc through voice commands. The best part is the ability of the system to understand the Indian voice.

Mahindra is all set to give the XUV500 the voice command technology by October 2012. Although the company has not confirmed on which variant this feature will be offered, we speculate an automatic variant of the SUV in the offering. The Scorpio and XUV500 share engines, so the Scorpio’s autobox can be used in the XUV. The only gripe about the XUV500 is its notchy gearbox, something which an autobox will address.
