Maruti Celerio Interior

Last week we had shown you the clear front and rear exterior profiles of the soon to be launched Maruti Celerio. Now, we have come up with the interior pictures of the much awaited hatchback. The cabin of the Maruti Celerio uses beige, black and silver tones that look fresh. The quality of the interiors isn’t as convincing as of the Hyundai Grand i10 but is much better than the outgoing Maruti A-Star. These snapshots are from the range topping ZXi trim of the Celerio. In terms of equipment and features, there’s nothing exciting to talk about, apart from the new semi-automatic transmission.

The Maruti Celerio comes with dashboard-mounted gear lever layout, just like the Hyundai Grand i10. If you notice, the gear lever is directly lifted from the Maruti A-Star but the arrangement of drive modes is different here. The regular P, R, N, D modes are featured on the right, while the manual mode is situated on the left side with ‘+’ and ‘-’ toggles. The steering wheel is derived from the Maruti Swift but the instrument cluster looks new and attractive. It gets rid of the engine temperature gauge and features a small MID screen on the right corner. The aftermarket Kenwood music system is provided on the ZXi trim.

Maruti Suzuki has improved the cabin space of the Celerio compared to the A-Star. The improvement in space is evident at the rear. All in all, the upcoming Maruti Celerio seems to be a good replacement for the A-Star and Zen Estilo (which should never have come in the first place). It looks mature with the new design language, has more space, will now come with a convenient yet fuel efficient transmission and we can always expect Maruti to come up with an aggressive price. The Maruti Celerio is likely to be offered with the 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine initially and a new 800cc, 2-cylinder diesel engine by the end of 2014. It will be launched at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo with an expected on-road Mumbai price in the range of Rs. 4.60 – 5.95 lakhs for the petrol variants.
