The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol has been launched, with the price of the entry-level variant fixed at Rs. 8.39 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The compact SUV was shown at this year’s Auto Expo, with the launch scheduled to take place in March. Needless to say, we all know what happened in the past few months.

The Maruti S-Cross petrol price rises all the way to Rs. 12.39 lakhs (ex-showroom), for the top Alpha AT variant.

The car’s design has not seen any major changes, with only the mechanical bits updated according to Maruti’s petrol-only philosophy.

Thus, the S-Cross petrol has the same overall size and dimensions, sporting a muscular radiator grille, LED projector headlamps, auto-folding Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators, 16-inch alloy wheels and silver-coloured roof rails.

Insides of the compact SUV are not much different either, but there are a few upgrades. Interior features include a 7-inch Smartplay Studio 2.0 system with smartphone-car connectivity, smart key, push-button start system, automatic climate control and cruise control.

Under the hood the S-Cross petrol comes with a K15 Smart Hybrid BS6 petrol motor that displaces 1.5-litres and produces 105 PS at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm at 4400 RPM.

The BS6 engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed torque converter auto box.

The automaker claims 18.55 km/l of fuel efficiency for the manual transmission variants and 18.43 km/l for automatic transmission.

The compact SUV is available with four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha

The car was first introduced in India back in 2015 with only diesel engines. Since it comes with only one engine now, the Maruti S-Cross petrol price has reduced, a factor that Maruti has to play at since its future hangs on petrol cars alone.
