Maruti Wagon R EV Interior Spied
The presence of Maruti Suzuki’s badge clears things up

However, the interior of the Maruti Wagon R EV and the Toyota Hyryder are likely to be the same

Keen readers of MotorBeam would know that Toyota’s electric vehicle (EV) based on the upcoming Maruti Wagon R EV was spied a couple of times recently.

A video of the electric car, which is likely to be named Hyryder, surfaced online and it sported wheels similar to the ones found on the Maruti Ignis, but with Toyota badges on the centre caps.

Soon after, the EV was spotted on-road testing and its interior, which looked similar to that of the current generation Wagon R, was also spied.

Now, it turns out, the car whose interior was spied was in actuality the Maruti Wagon R EV. Its steering wheel had had the country’s top automaker’s logo.

This could only mean that the electric hatchback will be sold under both Maruti and Toyota brands in India, for there is no other reason why either of the brands would test the vehicle on the road.

The Maruti Wagon R EV, then, would likely be sold as the Toyota Hyryder with no design changes, a precedent set by the Toyota Glanza, which is essentially the Maruti Baleno.

So, the spied Maruti Maruti Wagon R EV interior should be carried as it is to the Toyota Hyryder as well, much like the powertrain, and people would only be able to differentiate between the 2 cars based on the badging.
