2018 Mercedes C-Class Facelift
It takes on the likes of Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class facelift was launched earlier this year (September). However, at the time of the launch, it was made available only with the diesel engine variants. The German luxury automaker has now brought the petrol counterpart of the sedan in the country at a price of Rs. 43.46 lakhs (ex-showroom).

It gets identical features as the diesel variant, which means, the sliding sunroof is offered as well. The front section has High Performance LED headlamps to offer better illumination and preciseness over the halogen or xenon units.

Inside the cabin, there is the same 10.25-inch COMAND infotainment system that has smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety-wise, it has an Active Parking Assist, which helps in detecting a parking slot and also assists the steering and acceleration. This goes along pretty well with the reverse parking camera.

Sold as the C 200 Progressive, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class petrol is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that is turbocharged. The mechanism can churn out a maximum power of 180 BHP and a peak torque of 280 Nm. The power is transferred to the wheels via the same 9G-Tronic (9-speed automatic) gearbox.

Apart from this, there is also an electric starter motor (48V) which assists in improving the fuel efficiency and also boosts the acceleration. It is more affordable than the diesel Progressive trim. However, the C 220 d Prime is still the entry-level variant with a price tag of Rs. 40 lakhs. In the domestic market, it competes with the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Jaguar XE.
