New generation Royal Enfield Bullet to launch by September

The new Royal Enfield Bullet, Scram, Himalayan and other upcoming bikes will give a tough fight to the new entry level Harley-Davidson and Triumph motorcycles.

There is increased competition from global premium motorcycle brands like Harley-Davidson and Triumph with their recent new product launches. Royal Enfield is taking strategic measures to defend its market share with a series of new models planned.

Royal Enfield aims to strengthen its 350-450cc segment and offer a wide range of options to prospective buyers. In the coming year, the company has ambitious plans to introduce three new offerings.

The first is the all-new Bullet, internally codenamed J1B, set to launch in early September. Following closely, within 6-8 weeks, Royal Enfield will introduce the new Himalayan (K1G) powered by a liquid-cooled engine. Additionally, the company has a 440cc Scram (D4K) in the works, likely to hit the market within a year.

The Scram 440 and Himalayan 450 will sit above the Classic, Hunter, Meteor and Bullet models. The bike maker aims to maintain its dominance in the market with these new products. They hold a significant market share of over 75 percent in the premium motorcycle segment priced above Rs. 1.5 lakhs. In the 350cc segment and above, they have a market share of 85-90 percent.

By 2025, Royal Enfield plans to introduce a 750cc bike based on the R-platform, along with an electric motorcycle based on the L-platform to capture evolving market trends.

Royal Enfield has committed its highest-ever annual capital expenditure of Rs. 1000 crores for FY24. With this investment they will develop new products and create additional manufacturing capacity.
