The Kwid seems to be slowly disappearing

Sales of hatchback models tanked across the board in November 2021, as the auto industry suffered from yet another hard outing.

The Alto from Maruti Suzuki led the way among small cars by registering sales of 13,812 units. Its stablemate, the S-Presso came next with 3661 unit sales.

Renault’s Kwid could only find 926 new homes in November, whereas 259 new units of the Datsun redi-GO were delivered to customers during the same period.

Cars in the segment registered sales of 18,658 units collectively, a far cry from the 28,124 units recorded in November last year.

However, the Hyundai Santro (2141 units) and Maruti Ignis (1499 units), did not have a good outing in November. Also, no units of the Datsun GO and Mahindra KUV100 NXT were sold last month.

As many as 57,603 units of the cars in the chart above were retailed in November 2021, which is a 11 percent year-on-year (YoY) sales degrowth.
