The Piaggio Vespa LX125 has proved to be a trendsetter with its retro looks and vibrant colors, since it was launched in India early this year. But many buyers saw it as sour grape due to its whopping price of Rs. 78,299/- (OTR Mumbai). But Piaggio kept justifying this price by calling it a lifestyle scooter with retro looks and highlighted its feature of monocoque body. Despite its high price tag, the Vespa found good number of buyers. Now after receiving such response, Piaggio wants to go further and increase its customer base by reducing the price by around Rs. 9000/-.

This price slash on the Vespa has come in just before festive season so as to rip maximum benefits. Piaggio might have managed this price reduction as the production activity is now settled and localization might have increased or it might be just a festive discount. But no official word is out on why this price reduction happened and will it continue after the festive season. However, we feel Piaggio will be able to increase sales due to this reduced pricing.

The Piaggio Vespa LX125 is powered by a 125cc, 3-valve, 4-stroke engine producing 10 PS of power at 7500 RPM and a juicy torque of 10.6 Nm. This retro looking classic scooter at this new price tag has now become a good proposition and may take away some buyers from rivals like the Honda Activa or Suzuki sisters – Swish and Access. This price war will be further intensified by Piaggio with the launch of the mass market scooter, Flyer.
