Range Rover Sport SVR Front

Ahead of the public debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach, Land Rover has unveiled the Range Rover Sport SVR online and it is the fastest production SUV around the Nurburgring circuit. Dubbed as the fastest Land Rover to be built ever, the Range Rover Sport SVR is the first product to roll out of JLR’s all-new Special Operations Division and also the first to get the high performance ‘SVR’ tag from the automaker.

Visually, the Range Rover Sport SVR isn’t drastically different from the regular model, but gets a host of upgrades that certainly give out the sporty credentials of the performance SUV. You get a new front bumper with larger trapezoidal air intakes, all-black grille, revised hood and a darker Range Rover moniker. The side profile is further accentuated by a new fender vent design, while the crease lines also get mild changes. Upgrades on the rear include a roof mounted spoiler, new gloss black diffuser, quad exhaust tips and of course the ‘SVR’ badge. You also get black painted roof, pillars and mirror caps, while the headlights and tail lights have been darkened.

Step inside the luxurious cabin and the Range Rover Sport SVR gets several sporty elements that compliment the exteriors. The performance SUV gets sports seats with a 14-way adjustable feature. The second row on the other hand makes room for accommodating three instead of two passengers. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone shade of ebony black and cirrus white and has the seats upholstered in Oxford leather. The seats also get the SVR badge quilted into the centre, while the entire look is completed with contrast black stitching. You can also choose from other colour options including black and red as well as black and tan shades for the interiors.

Making the Range Rover Sport SVR astonishingly quick off the line is the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that produces 550 PS of power and 680 Nm of torque, paired to a ZF sourced 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. In terms of performance figures, the performance SUV can even put some sports cars to shame. 0-100 km/hr comes up in just 4.6 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 260 km/hr. Don’t forget, the Range Rover Sport SVR is also the fastest SUV on the ‘Ring and holds a lap record of just 8 minutes and 14 seconds; courtesy of the re-engineered chassis and high performance tyres.

The SVR badge is special for all Jaguar and Land Rover models as SVR vehicles will be fitted with a two-stage active exhaust featuring electronically controlled valves that will be seen for the first time on JLR cars. Essentially, the system optimises sound quality, performance and aesthetics and provides a race car-inspired soundtrack at higher revs, without affecting refinement. The Range Rover Sport SVR comes with 21-inch wheels with 275/45 all-season tyres as standard, but customers can also opt for 22-inch alloys with 295/40 Continental SportContact 5 tyres.

The Range Rover Sport will make its official public debut on 14th August and comes with a starting price of $1,10,475 (Rs. 67.51 lakhs) in the US. Make sure to check out the performance SUV burning up the track in the video below.
