Renault’s brand image is mainly known to have improved in the country thanks to the Duster SUV. After having a good run with the Duster, the company went on to introduce another utility vehicle called the Lodgy MPV. By this time it was clear that Renault had got the right formula in the Indian automotive market as we just love big cars, don’t we? Anyhow, the French car maker’s next trump card will come in the form of the Kwid hatchback that is all set to give entry level hatchbacks a run for their money once it makes its debut.

The reason for the Kwid’s warm welcome is the fact that it looks big, thats about most of it. The hatch stands like an SUV and has a bit rugged feel associated with it as well. The Kwid has been caught testing on many occasions and the vehicle has been seen again and caught on video as well. Doing its round on Chennai’s roads, the upcoming Renault product looks impressive from the rear end. The video has been shot from a two-wheeler and when the bike approaches the Kwid from the side, its macho looks keeps you thinking for a while that why it ain’t called a mini SUV.

A second Kwid was also spotted in the same city but this one sported roof rails, rear roof spoiler, different alloy wheel design and chrome inserts in the front grille, around the tail lights and around the door handles as well. Judging from the added parts, Renault seems to be working on a new top-end trim for the Kwid that will carry the aforementioned elements. Anyhow, the hatchback is only expected to reach the market by 2016. The vehicle is expected to put the sales chart on fire and place Renault as a big contributor in the entry level hatchback segment for a very long time.
