Tata has sold 1,24,130 Nexons in financial year 2022

Tata Nexon EV sales stood at 14,248 units in financial year 2022 helping the SUV clinch the best-selling SUV title

Last December Tata created a record by overtaking Hyundai to become the second best selling brand in India and now the company’s Nexon has overtaken Hyundai Creta not just in monthly sales but also in the financial year 2022 to become the number 1 selling SUV in India.

Tata Nexon EV sales more than tripled in the financial year 2022 selling 14,248 units against just 4219 units sold in the previous financial year.

So, these 14k odd units took the overall sales of the Tata SUV to 1,24,130 units in the same year while Hyundai Creta managed 1,18,092. So, Nexon comfortably overtook Creta by over 6000 units to become the number 1 selling SUV in India.

Nexon wouldn’t have clinched this title without the aid of the electric variant. In fact, the SUV sales grew by 95 percent with the EV variant contributing a significant part.

The Nexon sales in financial year 2022 was the second highest number for Tata in its history after its Indica hatchback recorded 1,35,642 unit sales in financial year 2008.

As of today, Nexon is the only SUV in the country with a 5-star NCAP rating as well as an electric powertrain.

The homegrown manufacturer is also gearing up to launch the long-range version of the SUV tomorrow. Called the Nexon EV Max, Tata claims the SUV to have a range upwards of 300 km.

The company is also providing a 3.3 kW AC on-board charger and the Nexon EV can be charged up to 80 percent from 0 percent in 60 minutes using a fast charger and to 100 percent from 20 percent using a regular charger in 8 hours.
