The battle for supremacy continues as the Activa once again out sells the Splendor to reach the top of the sales charts for April 2016. The Splendor comes in a close second but records a higher growth rate.

Honda Activa vs Hero Splendor
The Activa records the highest sales, while the Splendor comes in a close second

The Indian two-wheeler market is mostly dominated by low capacity commuter vehicles. The top two contenders, the Activa and the Splendor have been locked in a battle for many years now. For the financial year of 2016, we saw the Splendor eke out a lead in spite of its negative growth rate. By the end of April however, the Activa had caught up and surpassed the Splendor in sales. The Splendor however still shows a higher growth rate, which may help it catch up in a few months.

There is a considerable margin after the top two. Coming in at third place is the Hero HF Deluxe which has also shown an increase of 4.37% as compared to its sales in March 2016. The Deluxe is followed by the Hero Passion. The Passion has seen its sales drop by 8.12% in the month of April. The sales figures for the TVS XL Super have also taken a dip. A decrease of 5.46% was observed. On the 6th position we have the Hero Glamour which saw a healthy growth of 16.55%.

On the 7th position we have the Bajaj CT 100 which showed a considerable boost in sales. It recorded a gain of 18.91% which is the second highest in the list. The CB Shine recorded an increase of 10.84% in its sales figures as compared to March 2016. On the ninth spot, we have the Bajaj Pulsar which recorded a whopping 49.70% growth, which is the highest in the list. The last place is taken by the TVS Jupiter which saw a drop of 9.80% in its sales figures.

Overall the manufacturers seem to have performed well, as there is a cumulative increase in sales figures. Bajaj seems to be on a roll with both its Pulsar and CT bikes showing rapid growth. Hero still leads the market with 4 of its products in the top 10 list. Honda too recorded an overall growth in its product sales. TVS seems to be struggling as its Jupiter and the XL Super showed a drop in sales. The brand needs to keep refreshing its products to attract new buyers.
