The top 25 car sales list for September 2017 sees Hyundai Verna outsell the segment-leading Honda City.

Maruti Suzuki continues to rule the roost in the Indian car market accounting for over 50 percent of the top 25 car sales list in September 2017. There are a total of 12 Maruti cars in the list and 4 of them occupy the coveted top 4 spots. The month of September and October play host to various festivities in the Indian calendar and sales are usually on the higher side.

All these months we were reporting Fiat to be the worst-performer, not anymore. Skoda sold only 1735 cars as opposed to Fiat’s 2360. The Jeep Compass is literally turning the fortune tables for FCA in India. The entry-level Jeep sold 2151 units while the Punto, Punto Evo and Avventura sold only 168 units. The Polo and Ameo continue to back Volkswagen’s sales charts with sales of 2323 and 1327 units respectively. The recently launched Tiguan sold 120 units in September 2017.

Nissan sold a total of 5003 units with the redi-GO, GO+ and Micra contributing 2650, 684 and 642 units respectively to the sales. The Endeavour, Figo and Aspire sold 460, 1159 and 2208 units respectively in September 2017. The small car, Kwid continues to do the trick for the Renault brand here in India. The Kwid sold 9099 units of the total sales of 10,874 units while the Duster sold just 1489 units.

The Toyota Innova sold 6323 units while the Fortuner sold 2185 units. The Toyota Etios Liva and Etios, in comparison, sold 1247 and 2183 units in September 2017. Tata’s latest launch, the Nexon sold 2772 units in just 10 days’ time. Looking at the sales figure, the Nexon could give a tough fight to its competitors. The Tigor and Hexa contributed 1770 and 1245 units respectively to Tata’s September sales.

The City and WR-V continue to sell in high numbers for Honda. The Brio and Amaze sold 504 and 2561 units respectively, while the Jazz and BR-V saw sales of 3001 and 1298 units respectively. Over a decade-old workhorses, the Bolero and Scorpio still sell in good numbers for Mahindra. Meanwhile, the XUV500 and TUV300 sold 3343 and 2727 units respectively in September 2017.

Maruti and Hyundai sold a total of 1,50,521 and 50,028 units respectively. The newly launched Verna has outsold the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz.
