August 2020 Scooter Sales
None of the scooters even get close to the numbers posted by the bestseller

The August 2020 scooter sales list is topped by, surprise surprise, the Honda Activa. India’s favourite scooter saw over 1.93 lakh units get sold in one month.

However, it still posted 17 percent degrowth since during the same period last year Honda managed to shift over 2.34 lakh units from its showrooms.

In second place sits the Jupiter from TVS, having sold 52,378 times over, again, less than the numbers posted last year by 9 percent.

Honda’s Dio came third, as customers rode home nearly 43,000 units of the scooter, while the Suzuki Access and TVS NTorq completed the top five.

One thing that must be noted is that four out of the top five best-selling scooters posted negative growth, while the bottom five all saw good growth, showing how consistent their performance is, while the top is much more volatile.

Only two Hero products are present in the August 2020 scooter sales list and they are the Pleasure (sixth, 16,935 units) and Destini (ninth, 12,588 units).

Grazia from Honda managed the highest growth of 71 percent in the list, followed by the Yamaha Ray at 57 percent. The Hero Destini (40 percent) and Honda Dio (14 percent) were the only other scooters to post two digit growth rate.

Highest degrowth was the TVS NTorq at -22 percent, followed by the Honda Activa at -17 percent and the Suzuki Access which recorded -15 percent.

Overall, August 2020 scooter sales numbers dropped by 8 percent, but even then, the over 4.24 lakh units raked in by the top 10 scooters is impressive given the situation the world is in.
