Toyota Hilux Launch
The pickup truck should find a decent number of takers here

At last, the Toyota has decided to launch the Hilux in the Indian market

The market launch of the Toyota Hilux is scheduled to take place in January 2022 here as the lifestyle pickup segment continues to gain more acceptance among buyers.

Based on the Japanese car manufacturer’s IMV-2 platform that already underpins the Innova Crysta MPV and Fortuner premium SUV, the Hilux will be over 5.3 metres long and have a wheelbase of just under 3.1 metres.

In markets like Indonesia, the pickup truck is sold in several variants, including the Revo Rocco grade pictured here. The model sold in India should be identical, in terms of styling, to the one sold in the Southeast Asian nation.

India will get the double cab variant

Only the double cab version of the Hilux is set to be made available in India at launch. Toyota, however, might bring in the single-cab variant for the commercial segment at a later date.

The Hilux should borrow several interior parts from the Innova and Fortuner. Some of the features the lifestyle vehicle will come with include an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, electrically adjustable driver seat, auto air-con, exterior LED lights, among others.

It is likely that both the 2.4-litre (150 PS and 400 Nm ) and 2.8-litre (204 PS and 500 Nm) turbodiesel engine options and the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox choices will be on offer.

Similarly, both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive variants of the Hilux should be put on sale here and the vehicle will primarily rival the Isuzu V-Cross which is priced between Rs. 21.06 lakhs and Rs. 25.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
