The upcoming Ford Figo was recently spied with an automatic gearbox while undergoing road tests. Ford is going all out with its upcoming offerings which are sure to be hot-sellers.
Ford had unveiled the Ford Figo sedan just before the 2014 Auto Expo while the hatchback was revealed in global markets. Both the vehicles are nothing but the new generation Ford Ka, which is currently sold in Brazil. Several test mules of the next-generation Ford Figo twins have been spotted on test earlier. But latest spy shots from a Team-BHP reader reveals a Ford Figo undergoing testing with an automatic gearbox.
The gear stick seems to be the same one as found on the Ford EcoSport, but there is still no information whether the Figo will get the double clutch transmission or not. These spy shots seem to be of a mid variant as the car, featuring wheel caps, black OVRMs, black door handles, no-rear wiper and the vehicle has steering mounted controls, an integrated audio system and a few chrome inserts.
The 2015 Ford Figo will most likely get an automatic gearbox for the petrol model only which is a 1.2-litre unit. The 1.5-litre unit from the Fiesta and EcoSport is powering the vehicle in diesel form. But, the new Figo might also get the world famous 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, without the turbocharger though and that too at a later stage. The option of an automatic variant will surely work in favour of the vehicle as demand for the same is increasing in the country.
The Figo Aspire will be launched before the Figo hatchback in July while the compact sedan will come in September. We expect the new Ford Figo to be well received by the public, considering the fact that the current generation Figo has many followers thanks to the sheer driving pleasure that it offers. The new Ford Figo will indeed be coming late into the market, but Ford definitely holds a few surprises under its sleeve.
