Piaggio will be launching the Vespa 300 GTS as well as the 946 in India in the second quarter of 2016 and the scooters will be brought down here via the CBU route.

Piaggio has been selling the Vespa in India since a long time now. While the scooter hasn’t exactly set the sales charts on fire, what the product has done is created a niche carving for itself as it is positioned as a premium scooter. The manufacturer now wishes to expand the product portfolio and hence the Vespa 300 GTS and 946 will be making their way to Indian shores very soon.

Piaggio Vespa 300 GTS

The Piaggio Vespa 300 GTS is powered by a 278cc, liquid-cooled engine churning out 21 HP of power and 23 Nm of torque. Fuel is supplied through port injection and the scooter also has an automatic Twist and GO CVT gearbox. The Vespa 300 GTS also comes with two-channel ABS and an ASR system for traction control. The scooter’s claimed fuel efficiency is 29.76 km/l and it is likely to cost well over Rs. 2 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Piaggio Vespa 946

The Piaggio Vespa 946 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, fuel injected engine that produces 12.7 HP of power and it has a claimed fuel efficiency of 50 km/l while the top speed is claimed to be 92 km/hr. The Vespa 946 also comes with an LCD multifunction display with LED lighting and turn indicators. A special Georgio Armani edition of the Vespa 946 was also displayed at the recent 2016 Auto Expo. The price of this scooter is expected to be close to Rs. 10 lakhs.

Moto Guzzi V9 Cruisers

Apart from expanding the Vespa range, Piaggio will also launch the V9 range of cruisers from Moto Guzzi. The V9 Bobber and Roamer will be launched in India later this year and again they will be brought down via the CBU route. They will be powered by an 850cc engine and will be slotted in the mid-range, below the top-end models like the California.
