The Volkswagen Polo and Vento have got yet another update and it is quite minor with only a couple of new features. The announcement of the updates are on the eve of the Ameo compact sedan’s unveil.

The new features include rain sensing wipers and auto dimming IRVM

Volkswagen seems to love the idea of updating its vehicles in short intervals and hence the German automaker has now introduced another update for the Polo and Vento. The vehicles get mild updates to the equipment list which make the respective packages even better. What’s more, these new features are the same ones that will be made available on the upcoming Ameo compact sedan too.

Both the Polo and Vento now get a new touchscreen infotainment system, rain sensing wipers and an auto-dimming IRVM. These are the only additions the vehicles receive and the remaining equipment list continues to remain unchanged. The Polo recently got another update where Volkswagen added features like electrically-folding ORVMs, cooled glovebox and cruise control. The Vento also got a major update last year while another one is also being readied.

There are no changes on the mechanical front though. The Polo is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre oil-burner on the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims while the hatchback is also offered in GT TSI and GT TDI trims that offer more power and these versions are a hit with enthusiasts. The Vento is also offered with a choice of 3 engines – 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The Volkswagen Ameo gets these features as standard and hence it was imperative on the automaker’s part to make these features available on its other products too. The 2016 Polo is priced between Rs. 5.23-8.73 lakhs while the Vento is priced between Rs. 7.70-11.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Polo competes with the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and Honda Jazz while the Vento fights it out with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz.
