World Superbike Championship

After hosting the successful, Formula One Indian Grand Prix in 2011, the Indian motor racing circuit is yet again in the limelight. Owned by the Jaypee Group, Buddh International Circuit, would this time host the famous ‘World Superbike Championship’ in 2013. The official dates for the event have been declared as March 9th and 10th of 2013. The deal was cracked by Jaypee Sports International with Infront Motor Sports, the promoter of FIM World Superbike Championship.

“We are extremely happy to announce that besides holding the Formula 1 and FIA GT1 motor racing series, we will also hold a thrilling motorcycle race, World Superbike Championship, at BIC early next year.” Sameer Gaur, MD and CEO, JPSI, said.

The promoters of the championship feel that the reason for fixing this deal with Jaypee group is the professionalism and the power the group had displayed while hosting the earlier events. This event will not just give the motorsports enthusiasts in India an opportunity to witness it live but also add value to all the automobile companies associated with the championship. This would perhaps provide them a stage to promote themselves globally. And last but not the least, it would be another feather on Buddh International Circuit’s hat.

The season consists of series of rounds with each round having two races, where results of each race are combined to determine two annual World Championships, one for riders and one for manufacturers. The championship is regulated by Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and promoted by FGSport which is now a part of the Infront Group.
