The Tata Nano Twist Active AMT has been caught without any camouflage which indicates that it will be launched soon. Will it be a success only time will tell.

The Nano Active Twist AMT will be launched in the coming months

The Tata Nano is one such vehicle that has under-performed by a huge margin in the Indian auto market. Launched in 2009, the vehicle received a lukewarm response and even though the automaker kept making improvements to the hatchback in terms of small updates, there was no real rise in sales. Tata Motors is currently readying the new Nano Twist Active AMT and this model will come with a refreshed look, new colours and most importantly, an AMT gearbox. The new model of this cute little hatchback has been spied on the Pune-Bangalore highway (NH4) by MotorBeam reader Bhalchandra Sawant and in Ahmedabad by reader Sunay Saraf.

The 2015 Tata Nano Active Twist AMT will be powered by the same 624cc MPFI naturally-aspirated, twin-cylinder engine that belts out 38 PS of power and 51 Nm of torque. The engine will now be mated to an AMT gearbox that is a similar Magneti Marelli unit that is also used on the Zest compact sedan. Apart from this, the updated Nano will get new bumpers at the front and rear, fog lamps, smoked head lights and a chrome strip at the front. The rear will also see a new boot lid. The interiors of the new Nano will remain largely unchanged apart from new seat covers that will match the exteriors.

The Tata Nano Twist Active AMT will be the cheapest automatic car available in India. The vehicle also excels at providing good fuel economy and its compact dimensions make it a hoot to drive in the crowded city. The Nano offered with an AMT will be a very good package at a reasonable cost. The Maruti Celerio and Alto K10 also come with AMT boxes but these are costlier than the Nano. As of now, Tata sells the Nano priced between Rs. 1.97-2.52 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) so the new model with AMT will be pricier by at least Rs. 30,000/-.
