
Tata Motors’ mini truck called the Ace has stormed the Bangladesh pick-up market consuming more than 90% stake in the small pick-up segment in three years since its launch in early 2009. Selima Ahmad, vice chairperson of Nitol-Niloy Group of Industries, the sole distributor of Tata vehicles in Bangladesh commented on this occasion that the dealer had sold sold 7,800 units of Tata Ace during the January-December period of 2011, up from 3,500 units in 2009.

Tata Motors has launched the Magic Iris and the Ace Zip in Mumbai. The Magic Iris is a 3-4 seater 4-wheel passenger carrier for public transportation whereas the Ace Zip is a 600-kg micro truck for door to door goods movement. Tata Ace Zip is priced at Rs 1.90 lakh and the Magic Iris is priced at Rs. 1.95 lakhs (all prices without octroi for BS3 variants, ex showroom Thane).

The Tata Magic Iris has an all steel body with hard top and double steel sheet doors. It is powered by a 611 cc, water cooled engine with 11 HP power and 31 Nm torque. With 12” radial tyres, the Tata Magic Iris features instrument panel, ergonomically designed sliding bucket seat, big windshield, side mirrors, glass windows and dashboard mounted gear shifter. The vehicle comes with a warranty of 1 year or 36,000km whichever is earlier and is available in 4 colour options – Arctic White, Ruby Red, School Yellow and Jet Black.

The Tata Ace Zip has a small turning radius of 3.5 meters and is powered by a single cylinder water cooled engine, delivering an output of 11hp and torque of 31 Nm. The Ace Zip comes with 12” radial tyres, dash board mounted gear shift lever, retractable seat belts and a all steel cabin. The vehicle comes with a warranty of 36000 km/ 12-month, whichever is earlier.

Tata Motors Thailand introduced the new 1-tonne commercial vehicle, the Tata Super ACE City Giant at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo 2010. This vehicle is specifically design to boost logistic efficiency in congested area. The Tata Super ACE City Giant comes with 1,405-cc SOHC diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler and generates 70hp. The flat body with three drop-sides make loading goods on the vehicle easy and convenient. The Tata Super ACE City Giant is available at the special introduction price of 349,000 baht to every customer who makes a booking at Motor Expo.

The Tata Ace has become India’s first 1-lakh brand in goods commercial vehicles. In 2009-10, the sales of the Tata Ace crossed the 1-lakh mark to reach 110,032 units. It has thus become India’s only goods commercial vehicle to achieve the milestone. The Tata Ace was launched in May 2005 as India’s first mini-truck with a sub-one tonne payload. Starting with sales of about 30,000 units in 2005-06, its footprint more than doubled in 2006-07 to over 70,000 and further grew to over 89,000 units in 2007-08.
