The CBR400 continues to draw power from the 399cc parallel twin motor

With an interesting pavilion hosting a mix of concepts and production models, Honda has unveiled the new CBR400R sports bike at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The new model is positioned between the CBR250R and CBR650F in the Japanese market and adhere’s to its home countries tax policies. Improved on aesthetics and power delivery, Honda says that the new model will make for enjoyable riding over a variety of riding conditions including city commuting and sports touring.

The new Honda CBR400R continues to retain the full faired design language that is a lot more aggressive now along the lines of the recently unveiled 2016 CBR500R. The front fascia is a lot more sharper now while the rear gets an aggressively styled cowl. The twin headlamp setup and tail light now get LEDs as standard. In addition, the CBR400R comes with adjustable rearset foot pegs, a Moriwaki sourced exhaust and stickier Bridgestone Sportmax tyres that ensure the bike is good for a lot more than just touring and can take on the track as well.

In terms of power, the 2016 Honda CBR400R will be using a 399cc DOHC, parallel twin-cylinder engine with 4-valves, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Power figures have not been revealed as yet but can be expected in the vicinity of 45-50 HP while the torque output is expected to increase from the current 37 Nm. Official figures are expected to be revealed closer to the market launch which is regarded as ‘soon’ by the company and can be expected by this year end.

It is undecided as yet if Honda will be introducing the new CBR400R in the Indian market. However, there is a good chance of the automaker to do the same if it plans to retain the CBR250R in the single-cylinder quarter-litre space instead of bringing the CBR300R while the new CBR400R could compete with the twin-cylinders including the KTM Duke RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and the likes. More details on the the CBR400R will be available in the following days.
