India as a market is growing and the entry of various foreign brands such as Moto Guzzi and SWM into the Indian market is very much evident. Cleveland Cyclewerks is the latest to join the fray.

Cleveland Cyclewerks is an American motorcycle brand which was setup in 2009. The company is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio and currently sells its motorcycles in 23 countries. The 2-wheeler firm recently posted on Twitter that it would be entering the Indian market.

Cleveland Cyclewerks will commence its India operations and launch their very first motorcycle by September this year. The American motorcycle maker will primarily be competing in the retro, cafe racer and other niche segments and will offer motorcycles in the range of 250cc to 500cc.

All its motorcycles will be assembled at its manufacturing facility near Hyderabad. The manufacturing unit will have a capacity of 30,000 motorcycles per year. In India, a Hyderabad based firm Laish-Madison Motor Werks will take care of Indian operations and the company will be headquartered in Mumbai.

Initially, the company intends to launch the Misfit (a cafe racer), Ace (a retro commuter) and the FXR (an off-road motorcycle) in India, in-fact all these motorcycles are pictured on the company’s Indian website. The two other motorcycles, the Heist and Hooligun will most probably not make it to India anytime soon.
