Italian sports car giant Ferrari has finally started accepting bookings for India, with showrooms slated to open by October.
Ferrari had a very rough innings in India with their earlier distributor, i.e. Shreyans Group. The Italian sports car manufacturer then went on to terminate them and was on the lookout for a re-entry. A couple of months back, Ferrari announced that they will be entering the Indian market again through two dealerships. The Mumbai dealership is Navnit Motors while the Delhi dealership is Select Cars. Navnit Motors already has a slew of premium car showrooms under its belt, including BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce.
Ferrari will be offering its entire line-up in the Indian market. The California T is the company’s cheapest offering here while the F12 Berlinetta will be the most expensive one. The 458 Speciale and 458 Spider will also be made available to buyers. The 488 GTB Coupe, which is the replacement for the 458 Italia is priced a notch below the 458 Speciale and Spider. The four-seater FF is also going to be offered. The Ferrari FF is the most practical car from the company right now but it is the other ones which feel more special. The automaker will also offer other optional extra accessories and packages which cost quite a bit.
Apart from Ferrari, Maserati will also be entering the Indian auto market soon. Ferrari’s most aggressive rival Lamborghini also entered India a couple of years back and has been doing very well. Lamborghini sells the Huracan, Aventador and Aventador Roadster presently since the Gallardo has been discontinued. Sales of sports cars have increased by a huge margin in the past 2-3 years despite the fact that they cost more than double their actual price due to low volumes and high taxes.
