You read it first on MotorBeam. Hero MotoCorp showcased new dual-tone colours for the Karizma and ZMR, and the Maestro Edge got new body graphics at the 2016 Auto Expo. However, the production-ready HX250 was the show-stopper and the Splendor iSmart was also unveiled, the Indian automaker plans to launch all of these vehicles this year itself while all the scooters in the lineup will get updates.

The production Hero HX250 is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2016 while most of the specifications are already known. The faired bike will be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 31 BHP and 26 Nm of torque while mated on a 6-speed gearbox. The output seems to be overwhelming when compared to the light weight of the bike which is just 136 kgs. Top speed is claimed to be 165 km/hr.

The suspension department consists of telescopic front forks and a 5-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear and the braking power is created by petal shaped front and rear disc brakes while dual-channel ABS is also expected to be on offer. The Hero HX250 rides on Pirelli tyres and it has features such as an analog speedometer, under-seat exhaust, riding modes, split seats, clip-on handlebars, etc.

Hero’s calendar has marked a date after three months for the launch of the recently unveiled 110cc Splendor iSmart. The 97cc Splendor was the first to get this technology that is developed for better mileage. It simply switches off the engine with a mere pull of the clutch when the motorcycle is stationary and the engine is switched on as soon as you leave the clutch, this technology proves to be useful in urban traffic and while waiting at signals.

Hero also has extensive plans for updating all the scooters in the lineup by the end of 2016. These updates can be cosmetic as well as mechanical while no official information about the same is out yet. The Indian automaker is on a move as it is seen hiring top officials from Honda, BMW, Yamaha, etc. in order to strengthen its R&D department.
