New Bharat Stage 6 range to launch by year-end

At long last! Indian Motorcycle BS6 range launch will happen by year-end. The company was caught off guard by market changes and the pandemic thus far.

The Polaris-owned bike maker came off worse by the country’s firm push towards adopting BS6 legislations, since it did not have any motorcycles to sell after 1st April 2020.

However, the head of Indian Motorcycle’s parent firm has disclosed that the bike maker will be bringing its first BS6 bikes only by the year-end.

The first range of BS6 bikes will be from the manufacturer’s Scout family. But the exact timeline for the entire range to be launched in India is uncertain due to the current global situation.

Indian Motorcycle has the habit of launching most, if not all, of its bikes in the Indian market despite being a niche player. The bikes are usually brought in as CBUs.

The most recent launch of from the bikemaker in India was that of the FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica at Rs. 15.99 lakhs and Rs. 17.99 lakhs, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom).

The Indian Motorcyle BS6 range is expected to cover Scout, FTR, Chief and Chieftain range of motorcycles.

Polaris is happy with the way Indian Motorcycle is performing in India and has no plans to set up a local assembly unit in the country for the foreseeable future.
