The Jeep Compass diesel automatic SUV has been launched in India with a choice of 2 variants – Longitude at Rs. 21.96 lakhs and Limited Plus at Rs. 24.99 lakh, ex-showroom pan-India. Both variants are BS6-compliant and offered with an all-wheel drive.
Prior to today, the Jeep Compass in a diesel automatic iteration was limited to the much costlier Trailhawk model starting at Rs. 26.8 lakhs, ex-showroom. The availability of a comparatively cheaper alternative might boost sales for the popular SUV.
The new Compass diesel automatic continues to be powered by the 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine which now meets BS6 regulations. Its produces 170 PS @ 3750RPM and 350 Nm @ 1500-2500RPM while being mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission sourced from transmission experts ZF.
In terms of equipment and feature highlights, the new Compass Longitude diesel automatic comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that brings with it a rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and keyless entry and engine stop/start. Like the manual versions, this automatic Longitude variant continues to be offered with 17-inch alloy wheels, hill start assist, traction control, stability control, electric handbrake, disc brakes on all four corners along with ABS and airbags of course. The Jeep SelecTerrain AWD system also continues to offer 4 drive modes – Auto, Sand, Mud and Snow.
Equipment highlights for the top-end diesel automatic Jeep Compass Limited Plus include a 8.4-inch UConnect Infotainment system, a dual-panel sunroof, automatic headlamps and wipers, electrochromic IRVM, an electronically adjustable driver’s seat and 18-inch alloy wheels.
