Mercedes-Benz plans to launch new engines in the S-Class to gather a strong hold in the premium luxury car segment. The German automaker will launch an entry level S300L which will be powered by a 2996cc V6 motor producing 228bhp of power. But what is most interesting is the price, which is expected to be Rs. 70 lakh. The S300L will replace the S350L by a significant margin, starting a price war amongst its closest rivals, the Audi A8L and BMW 7-Series. The S-Class will also get a more powerful direction injection V6 motor. The S350 CGI is the company’s latest tech and increases the power from 272bhp to 302bhp. The S500 CGI will follow in later with 429bhp of power on tap. This will help the company keeps the lead in the segment, where is sold close to 1200 units in the last fiscal year.
